As an experienced laser and cosmetic physician for over 20 years, Dr Ross Martin undertakes instructions as an expert witness, including the preparation of medico legal reports and appearing in court, in cases relating to dermatological lasers, aesthetics and general practice.
The main body of Dr Martin’s medico legal work has been in negligence in the cosmetic medicine/laser sectors and general practice. He has been involved in a wide range of cases within these fields over the past 14 years, through which considerable experience in conflict resolution has been gained. Formal training as a mediator has recently been achieved.
The preponderance of cases have been civil claimant cases however in the last couple of years Dr Martin has received notable instructions from defence organisations and would estimate that his recent output has been approximately 2/3 claimant 1/3 defendant.
Dr Martin holds experience of cross examination before the GMC as the Defence expert as well vast experience of written reports, written under tight deadlines. All reports are produced in the format suggested by the academy of experts and a clinical negligence case is usually turned around in a month although this is flexible.
Dr Martin has been cross examined at the GMC twice and also in coroners and childrens cases.
