Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Mr Andrew Chukwuemeka has prepared reports for Coroner’s Inquests and will act for both claimants and defendants and also as a single joint expert.

Mr Chukwuemeka is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at Hammersmith and St. Mary’s Hospitals, London as well as in the private sector. He is Clinical Director for Cardiac Sciences (Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery) and Associate Medical Director and was previously Lead Clinician for Clinical Governance and Audit in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery there as well the Director of Postgraduate Training. Mr Chukwuemeka is currently the Royal College of Surgeons’ Regional Specialty Advisor and serves on the NHS England - Clinical Reference Group for Cardiac Services

In the past he has been Lead Clinician for Clinical Governance and Audit in the Major Trauma Centre at St. Mary’s and for the Northwest London Trauma Network. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery as Chair of the Cardiac Surgery Committee.

Mr Chukwuemeka has a busy clinical practice with daily involvement in all aspects of risk assessment and management in cardiothoracic surgery. His special interests include Chest Trauma, Surgery for Ischaemic Heart Disease, Aortic Surgery including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation(TAVI), Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery.

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has made many presentations to learned societies.
