Consultant in Emergency Medicine
Dr Anthony Bleetman is a freelance locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine, having formerly served as a Clinical Director and a substantive NHS Consultant. He worked for three years as a part time Consultant trauma team leader at the major trauma centre at St Mary’s Hospital in London and holds a part time post as an attending Emergency Physician at Beilinson Hospital in Israel.
Dr Bleetman served as an air ambulance and pre-hospital doctor for 11 years and was awarded his PhD for work on developing police body armour. He continues to work on personal safety and physical intervention programmes for mental health and custodial organisations. He has developed expertise in the medical effects of Taser and serves on SACMILL, a Ministry of Defence Committee providing medical advice on less lethal weaponry.
Dr Bleetman is competent in report preparation on personal injury, road traffic accidents, medical malpractice and negligence, pre-hospital and emergency care, aeromedical (air ambulance) care, victims of assault, criminal injury, death in custody and in cases of injuries sustained during use of force in arrest and detention in care and custody.
