Mr Michael Byng is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor acting on building, civil engineering and railway construction contracts throughout the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australasia and China.
He has over 30 years' experience of procuring and managing building and civil engineering contracts to completion, creating projects for the design, construction and delivery of major engineering infrastructure projects, procured traditionally and by PFI or PPP methods, as well as negotiating mergers of consultancy firms and MBOs.
Mr Byng offers dispute resolution support to clients and their legal advisors, providing valuations and reports on construction works, including expert determination of disputes arising from PFI contracts.
For suppliers seeking to recover costs or damages arising from breach of contract, he can offer advice on onerous contract conditions, ambiguities in contract documents in respect of all contractual relations within the supply chain.
He also helps Insolvency Practitioners dealing in corporate recovery as well as advising on commercial matters arising from insolvency.
He offers expert witness services in litigation and arbitration, including giving evidence in court and at public enquiries, advising on quantum issues arising from acts of potential professional negligence and providing independent expert valuation advice in connection with schemes receiving financial support from the public or private sector.
