Dr Dan Jones is Managing Director of Advanced Invasives, the UK’s leading invasive plant species consultancy. He is also an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Biosciences at Swansea University.
As Managing Director of Advanced Invasives, Dan has authored reports for UK Government and guidance documents for UK and Welsh Government, including provision of best practice management guidance for Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed. He has delivered strategic invasive plant management best practice for major public landowners and infrastructure operators, and has also provided expert advice on weed and invasive plant management projects to government, public sector organisations and statutory bodies.
Dan is a Full Member of The Academy of Experts and a Certified Expert Witness. His areas of specialism as an expert witness include:
Dan has provided numerous Government depositions, including the House of Commons Science & Technology Committee 'Inquiry: Japanese Knotweed and the built environment' (2019). He was a member of the Working Group for the new RICS Professional Standard: 'Japanese Knotweed and residential property' (2019-2022) and has been a member of the Wales Biodiversity Partnership (WBP) Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Group since 2015.
