Turn2us

There are so many reasons people experience poverty in the UK. Bereavement, job loss, family breakdown, ill health and needing to care for a loved one are just some examples.

Turn2us was founded in 1897 as The Distressed Gentlefolk’s Aid Association and we’ve supported people living in poverty in the UK and Ireland for over a century by awarding grants so they can afford basics they need such as household items, home repairs and disability equipment, or that help them return to education, training or employment. Thanks to our generous supporters, over 4,600 people benefitted from our direct grants last year.

Today we also help many more people in need through our helpline and Turn2us.org.uk website and our free services are a vital lifeline for many living in financial hardship. Last year nearly 4 million people visited our website and our helpline received 90,000 calls.

Supporting Turn2us will mean we can be there for those who need us in the future. You could be helping a mother caring for a disabled child, a family whose life has been turned upside down by redundancy or an elderly widow with a chronic illness struggling to make ends met.

Our name has changed over the years but we’ve never wavered from our original mission – fighting poverty in the UK and Ireland.
