Professor Brendan Monteiro is a Consultant Psychiatrist attached to Jacobs Clinic, providing Adult Autistic Spectrum Condition Diagnostic and Assessment Services.
Professor Monteiro has more than 35 years’ experience as an expert witness, including the preparation of psychiatric reports and giving evidence in court, in Personal Injury cases, including the psychological effects of stress at work. He also undertakes industrial injury cases, where clients have been psychologically affected by hearing loss and Tinnitus.
Clients can be assessed at clinics in Bury and Salford, in hospitals, special hospitals, secure units, prisons – and remotely using Video Technology in any venue in England, Wales and N.Ireland.
Professor Monteiro has provided psychiatric reports on cases including:
- Personal Injury
- Stress at Work
- Psychological injuries following Clinical Negligence
- Psychological Effects of Acquired Deafness (including Tinnitus, including Military NIHL)
- Forensic Psychiatry Reports - Deaf and Hearing people referred by Courts/Solicitors/Prisons
- Mental Health of Deaf Adults involved in Child Protection and Family Proceedings
- Residential Institutions Redress Board (Ireland) psychological injuries following physical and sexual abuse experienced by Deaf people (Ryan Report)
- Reports to HSE (Health Service Executive) and Irish Courts.
- Assessments using Zoom Video Technology (April 2020–date)
Appeared before Mental Health Tribunals (MHT) and in Court to give expert evidence.
Relevant CPD training activity includes:
