
Dr Rowland James Whale MBBS MRCP(UK)

Consultant Physician and Geriatrician
Dr Rowland James Whale has been a fully qualified medical practitioner since 1977. He continues to hold a licence to practise and remains in NHS employment as a consultant physician. He is fully indemnified and is listed on the GMC Specialist Register as a consultant physician.
His primary NHS responsibilities are in the field of acute medicine, where his day-to-day work involves treating a large number of acutely ill patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions, including many with physical injuries. While his patients range in age from 16 to over 100, approximately two-thirds are aged 80 or over.
Dr Whale is a former clinical tutor for the Royal College of Physicians and the University of Cambridge, and he also serves as a clinical examinations assessor for the University of Cambridge. He maintains a high level of continuing professional development (CPD) activity and was last appraised in December 2017.
He has been preparing medico-legal reports for the past 25 years on behalf of both claimants and defendants, and has provided evidence in court on several occasions, including twice at the Royal Courts of Justice.

Dr Whale is based in Cambridge but is willing to travel to other parts of England, subject to reimbursement of travel costs. He regrets that he is generally unable to undertake criminal or legally aided cases.
