Eur Ing Prof. David A Cooper MBE is a world-leading engineering expert in lifts, escalators, cableways, funiculars and materials-handling technology. He is fully trained in the legal aspects of expert reporting and giving evidence, and regularly accepts instructions in personal injury and professional negligence matters involving mechanical and vertical transportation engineering.
Professor Cooper acts for claimants and defendants, or as a Single Joint Expert. He has given expert evidence in civil and criminal proceedings and at Coroner’s Courts in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
He is CEO of LECS UK, a leading independent consulting engineering practice, and brings over 40 years’ specialist experience supported by extensive peer-reviewed research into accidents, safety and risk across all forms of vertical transportation. He is co-author of Elevator & Escalator Accident Investigation & Litigation and is a First Tier Expert by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
