Aaron is a Director and Head of Forensic Services at Pierce and has specialised in forensic accounting and valuations for over a decade. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Aaron trained and qualified as a chartered accountant in BDO’s audit department in London. In 2015, he transferred to BDO’s forensic services division, where his experience included a one-year secondment to the UK Serious Fraud Office. Since then, Aaron has continued his focus on forensic accounting and valuations, holding senior positions at both boutique and top 10 accounting firms.

Aaron regularly advises on forensic accounting and valuation matters and prepares independent and party‐appointed/single joint expert witness reports. Aaron works nationally with clients and their instructing solicitors across a broad range of industries. His clients include law firms, UK and international corporates, private equity houses, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and private individuals.

Commercial disputes

  • Quantification of loss of profits and business interruption claims;
  • Share purchase agreement disputes;
  • Shareholder, partnership and agency termination disputes; and
  • Expert determinations.

Matrimonial proceedings

  • Preparation of SJE reports covering business value and liquidity, tax consequences of share disposals, sustainable income and other related matters; and
  • Shadow advice, including reviewing SJE reports prepared by other experts, analysing business expenditure and directors’ loan accounts, and assisting with completion of Section 2.11 Form E.

Non-contentious valuations

  • Business and share valuations in connection with succession planning, non-contentious shareholder exits; corporate restructurings and management buyouts;
  • Periodic portfolio valuations for private equity firms for internal and external reporting;
  • Annual valuation of long-term investments (corporate shareholdings) for external financial reporting;
  • Valuations of shares and share options for tax purposes, such as EMI and growth share schemes; and
  • Purchase price allocation assignments for external financial reporting.

Forensic investigations

  • UK and overseas investigations into fraud, bribery, corruption, money laundering, accounting irregularities and contentious insolvency at SMEs and large corporates, international charities and public sector entities.
