Ms Nicola Coote is a Chartered Health & Safety Professional and Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and a registered IRCA Lead Auditor (ISO 9001). She co-founded PHSC plc in 1989 and worked as a consultant and Executive Director whilst building the organisation, before leaving in 2025. She is now director of a niche specialist risk, compliance and safety practice and works, inter alia, as Expert on criminal and civil cases.

With over 38 years of experience ranging across most industry sectors Ms Coote can act as an expert witness in most areas of occupational health, safety, welfare and risk.

Her specialist areas of expertise include:

• Accident investigation
• Sector specific health and safety cases, eg healthcare, education, commercial, vehicle movement, leisure, social housing, industrial warehouse and factory environments
• WRULD cases/RSI and ergonomics
• Premises health & safety issues causing illness, injury, etc.
• Risk assessment
• Training, competence & development
• Failure in management systems

Ms Coote can take instructions on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert.
