Mr Shadrokh Nabili is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist and certified medico-legal expert with 25 years of clinical practice covering the full range of eye diseases. He holds the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Civil Certificate and is a full member of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI). Since beginning medico-legal work in 2022, he has provided clear, balanced and independent evidence in civil cases.
Mr Nabili completed formal accredited ophthalmology training in leading UK centres, including Ninewells University Hospital, The Royal Hospitals Belfast, and Bristol Eye Hospital. He achieved fellowships from both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, followed by an Advanced Sub-Specialty Fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Diseases (ASTO). He was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he established specialist cornea and external eye disease services for South Cumbria and North Lancashire. In recognition of his significant contributions to the NHS, Mr Nabili was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award (CEA).
His clinical expertise spans cataract, refractive surgery, corneal and external eye diseases, glaucoma, eyelid (oculoplastic) disorders, diabetic and age-related retinal diseases, strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology. He has particular interests in cataract surgery, cornea and external disease, and oculoplastic surgery, including cosmetic eyelid procedures.
Mr Nabili regularly updates his skills through national and international meetings and has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. He was appointed Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at UCLAN in 2023. He also serves as Clinical Lead in Ophthalmology at The Lancaster Private Hospital, Audit Lead, and Cataract Pathway Lead at Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
He provides clinical and medico-legal services in Manchester, Lancaster and Blackpool, supported by dedicated nursing and administrative teams. His extensive ophthalmic experience, combined with his strong understanding of expert witness duties, makes him a reliable and authoritative expert for medico-legal instructions.
