Consultant Interventional Cardiologist | Certified Civil Expert Witness (CUBS)
Dr Majd Protty is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Cardiff University. He provides independent expert witness reports across the full spectrum of general and interventional cardiology, combining active NHS practice with certified medicolegal expertise.
He holds the Cardiff University / Bond Solon (CUBS) Certificate in Civil Expert Witness Practice, having completed accredited training in expert report writing, courtroom skills, cross-examination, and the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR 35). He delivers clear, evidence-based, CPR-compliant opinions for both claimant and defendant instructions.

Dr Protty trained within the Wales Deanery and holds European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) Certification. He is on the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
He has published more than 55 peer-reviewed papers and conference abstracts in cardiovascular medicine, has received over 15 national and international prizes, and secured more than £500,000 in research funding. His active academic role ensures that his opinions reflect current evidence and guideline standards.

In addition to his NHS work, Dr Protty contributes to professional education through the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS), Royal College of Physicians, and Academy of Medical Educators. He lectures regularly on coronary intervention, ECG and echocardiography interpretation, and patient safety in interventional practice.
Dr Protty holds a PhD in Medicine and postgraduate qualifications in Therapeutics (PgDip and MSc, Cardiff University). His blend of clinical, academic, and procedural expertise supports a balanced, objective, and evidence-based approach to expert witness work.
