Dr Salim Cheeroth is a consultant specialising in acute, general, and geriatric medicine, bringing over 18 years of comprehensive experience to his field. His geriatric expertise ranges from acute care to community-based services and everything in between.
He has held multiple leadership roles, including Clinical Director in medicine at two hospitals and currently serves as Director of Medical Education at his current trust. These positions have provided him with extensive experience in problem-solving and strategic planning. His effective leadership supports the development and management of efficient emergency, acute medical, and geriatric care pathways, focusing on improving patient outcomes by reducing hospital stays and minimising readmissions.
Dr Cheeroth’s medico-legal background includes preparing reports for coroners and solicitors, participating in inquests, and acting as an expert witness for the defence.
In addition to being an NHS consultant, Dr Cheeroth is a civil servant employed as an internal professional advisor for the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO). In this role, he offers expert clinical opinions to assist the PHSO in investigating complaints against hospital trusts, ensuring fair assessments and supporting efforts to resolve disputes and improve public services.
