Dr Gayathri Venkatesan trained in General Adult Psychiatry with specialisation in Neuropsychiatry. She was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in January 2011 and completed Post Graduate Certificate of Advancing Practice in Autism in November 2013.
Dr Venkatesan provides outpatient service for assessment and management of cognitive and mental health problems in patients with acquired brain injury following trauma, infection, stroke, encephalitis, sub arachnoid haemorrhage, tics and neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease. She is also involved in psychiatric assessment of patients undergoing DBS surgery.
Dr Venkatesan has undertaken instructions as an expert witness for over 10 years, preparing medico legal reports for both civil and criminal cases. She provides neuropsychiatric opinions, psychiatric opinions, fitness to plead reports and opinions on insanity defence. She can act on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert.
