Dr Keith Still has consulted on some of the world’s most significant and challenging crowd safety projects. He teaches short courses around the world, from entry-level risk awareness and risk reporting, Level 3 (supervisor), Level 5 (crowd management planning and operations) to Level 7 (MSc). One of his courses is mandatory training for UK Police Public Event Commanders.
The courses are aimed at event organisers, police, first responders, emergency planners, city authorities, building control officers, licensing officers, architects, event managers, security companies, venue operators and consulting engineers.
Keith has over 30 years of consulting experience across a range of international crowd safety and risk analysis environments. He has advised on crowd behaviour, crowd risks and crowd safety considerations for events of 500 people to 3,000,000 people.
His project/consulting work includes planning for the Royal Wedding (the UK, 2011), Hajj projects, (Saudi Arabia, Jamarat 2000 - 2005, Makkah 2000 - 2013), Olympic Events (Sydney 2000, London 2014), New Year Events (London, Sydney, Dubai), Canada Day (Ottawa 2017-2021).
Keith was a regular speaker at the UK Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College (EPC) from 1999 - 2014 where he developed and delivered a range of teaching/training modules for crowd safety in places of public assembly, festivals and mass gatherings. He has taught around the world (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Dubai and Hong Kong).
He is the author of the books Introduction to Crowd Science and Applied Crowd Science which outline the principles of crowd safety for major events and places of public assembly.
Keith has undertaken expert witness instructions on a wide range of cases in the USA, Australia and Europe relating to crowd safety. He can act on behalf of either claimant or defendant or as a Single Joint Expert.
