Ms Helen Jefferies

BA MA RM(Registered Midwife)
Helen Jefferies qualified in 2002 and is an experienced Midwife Sister with particular interests in high risk deliveries, family planning, clinic work, reproductive health, teenage pregnancy and the sexual health and education of youth.
She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all areas of midwifery from antenatal and birth to postnatal care. Her midwifery roles have given her invaluable experience in all aspects of both community and hospital care. In particular, she managed and coordinated a maternity unit in a busy London teaching hospital.
Helen is proficient in using Stan CTG analysis and is qualified in examination of the newborn. Due to her seniority, Helen is mainly involved in HDU, triaging women and assisting in high-risk pregnancy and labour, often supervising junior staff.

Helen is now CUBS accredited, having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills for medico-legal report writing, including an understanding of Part 35 rules and her duty to the court.
Helen has written approximately 60 reports to date, providing honest and reliable opinions on midwifery, professional standards and clinical negligence, with instructions split 70/30 claimant/defendant. She is experienced in expert-to-expert joint statements and conference calls with counsel.
Helen has given oral evidence in the past. She has also been instructed in cases by the NMC involving misconduct, CTG analysis, postnatal complications, labour management and antenatal care provided.
Helen undertakes legal aid work at a reduced rate and can take on work on a nationwide basis.
